Cat Antics
I have two tabby cats a male and a female. My eldest cat, the female, whose eyes are staring at you at the top of the page, is 9 years old and her name is taffeta. She is a full tabby from head to toe and even her skin is tabby, this we saw when she had her little op! Taffeta got her name from birth, she was a rescue cat and the person who was looking after her as a kitten, along with 5 or 6 other kittens, had given her the name of taffeta and we liked it so much that we kept it.
My youngest cat, the male, pictured here on the left, is mostly tabby with a white under belly and he goes by the name of pipsqueak. Pipsqueak we acquired from someone who was giving away a litter of kittens, he at the time had no name, but when we got him home he didn't meow it was more of a squeak and because he was so small we called him pipsqueak. Now he is 5 years old he still squeaks! but he is almost as big as taffeta.
Curiosity Nearly Killed The Cat!
Curiosity Killed The Cat!
Well almost on this occasion. My pipsqueak, that's him there in the photo "helping" with the sweeping, had an episode involving a carrier and a pie!
One morning I had been to a local market and purchased some meat pies for our dinner later that day. When I got home I put the carrier bag on the floor, big mistake, for a moment whilst I went off and did something in another part of the house. I returned 5 minutes later to hear a rustling in the room where I had left the carrier bag. Pipsqueak had his head through the handle part of the carrier bag trying to get to the meat pies. When he heard me coming he could not get his head out of the carrier bag and so shot off up the stairs with this carrier bag still hanging around his neck, the pies inside went flying everywhere, and pipsqueak disappeared over the rooftops, carrier bag and all, out of sight.
A couple of hours later Pipsqueak re-appeared wearing a lovely carrier bag collar, well the handle part of it anyway. He looked really forlorn and sorry for himself, it was quite a funny sight, him with a carrier bag handle collar. Everything turned out all right in the end though because he let me take the carrier bag collar off his neck. Funny thing is since then he has always been afraid of carrier bags, I wonder why that is?
